Our mission, is to help you keep it all safe
Because we know how stressful and painful the home buying process can be! We've heard the horror stories. We get the concerns. This is a serious decision and those concerns are serious. The last thing we want is for anyone to feel that those concerns were downplayed or written off. If there are moisture stains, we want to get to the bottom of it when at all possible. Even Nuisance items like oven burners that won't ignite, or outlets with no power. Those things can really add up! We get that. You need someone who is in your corner. Someone that is going to go the extra mile to gather the entirety of the FACTS!
Our inspection process is meticulously designed to do exactly that. Every step of what we do from the opening of the front door, to the last sentence of our report. Is designed to shed a light on your path forward, and bring you peace of mind.
These four things are what set us apart from the competition
Don't get us wrong. There are a lot of good home inspectors out there. And... just like any other group of people. There a few bad eggs. people who really shouldn't be doing what they're doing. But I think most of us do a decent job.
That being said... this right here is what you really need to know. Most inspectors are aiming to do two home inspections a day. maybe more. And they can do a good job that way. Most of the time. But the fact is. They're going to get in a rush. Their mind will wander toward the next job, when it should be focused on you and your home! They'll feel they need to go faster to make their next appointment on time. And that's when they make mistakes! That's just the logical conclusion of trying to juggle the needs of multiple people.
And that's the way a lot of inspectors operate these days. trying to cram as many inspections a day as they can into their schedule. If you choose us for your inspection. You will NEVER be just another stop on our busy days. You, your home, your family. Will be our whole day!!
At Third Planet Home Inspections our day starts, and ends, with you! which means you have our full undivided attention. We do what it takes to ensure we will have the time, not only to check everything that needs to be checked. But to talk to you about our findings as well. That means focusing our mind and resources onto just one home a day. We believe that's what it takes to complete our mission of bringing you peace of mind.

Now more than ever you need clarity. This is a big decision! The last thing you need is another thing clouding your perception of the truth. We are here to help you see thing as they are!
Not only will we do what we can to find the facts. But we will make sure they are presented to you in a way you can understand. That way you can responsibly weigh your options. And properly make the decision that's in your best interest.
We understand your life is busy and you need to move on with it. Like we mentioned earlier. You are our sole focus! We won't keep you hung up and waiting for our report to come through. Your peace of mind is our mission when you work with us. Which means we aren't rushing off to do another inspection. We're taking our time on site with you. Then we go home and get straight to work on finalizing your report. Then sending it off to you!
Here's what we won't do. We won't just stick our heads into the attic. Shine a flashlight around, and then say we inspected it. If it's safe and possible. We walk through the whole thing. Every joist and rafter gets scanned for twisting, bowing, mold, and decay. We aren't in a hurry trying to get to the next item on our list. So we don't just go into each room of the house, open and close one window, test one outlet, then run onto the next room. When inspectors do this. It's called inspecting a "representative amount." The idea is to test a sample of the items within the house to get an idea of how it's built. Technically that is up to the "standards of practice" for home inspectors. We don't do that. We take the time to scan each wall in the house. Testing every outlet we come across. And fully analyzing every window and door we pass. If any of your windows are difficult to operate. We let you know about that. If a door is rubbing against its frame, that's going to be on your report. We find these problems by actually testing every item we can physically get to within the home.
We do all that we can to ensure that if a system is going to fail, it does so while we are there. That way it doesn't happen two weeks after you move in. This means flooding multiple sinks and bathtubs at the same time. that way we can ensure your plumbing joints can actually handle the total weight of the water that could possibly be loaded onto it. It means pulling the cover off your electrical panel to ensure everything is properly sized and there are no signs of arcing. It means measuring and testing the temperature of your AC/Heat to ensure it can raise/lower the temperature of your house in a reasonable time frame. We do all of this to ensure you and your family know exactly what it is you are purchasing.
We don't want you to have any unpleasant surprises after you decide to go through with a large purchase. So we go out of our way to make sure we find anything and everything that could cost you in the future.
Please note: the only things we wouldn't test would be non-standard systems. Things that aren't in the majority of homes. An idea of what that would be would be security alarms, pool pumps and filters, generators, saunas, Heated floors etc.
